Embracing a Path to Happiness Lifestyle
The City of Gütersloh extended a warm welcome to 21 new recruits joining its Daycare for Children department on 25th August 2025. This significant addition strengthens the city's largest department, which caters to over 3,500 children across its 22 facilities.
Irina Bollweg, from the Human Resources and Organization department, organised a comprehensive introduction programme for the new recruits. The programme included icebreaker games, a shared lunch, and a variety of sessions about aspects of the city administration.
The new recruits are now an integral part of the city's childcare services, carrying responsibility for many children every day. They are starting in different sections: ten are beginning a practice-integrated training to become childcare workers, six are starting their recognition internship, and five are starting the practice-integrated training to become childcare assistants.
The City of Gütersloh emphasises personal support and takes time for guidance and feedback. The daily work of the new recruits ranges from creative projects to accompanying outings to supporting learning. Trainees have room for their own ideas, which they can implement in the learning workshops.
Andrea Körber, Deputy Head of the Daycare for Children department, addressed the new colleagues, while Henning Matthes, Deputy Mayor for Family, Youth, School, Social Services, and Sports, also welcomed them. The city's childcare services focus on both care and early education, ensuring a nurturing environment for the children.
The practice-integrated training (PiA) allows trainees to work practically with children, parents, and colleagues from the start. The new recruits are now immersed in this hands-on learning experience, gaining invaluable skills and experiences.
Institutions like Kinderzentren Kunterbunt, with multiple locations in the region, including nearby Harsewinkel, are among those benefiting from the new recruits. However, the exact institutions in Gütersloh where the new trainees and interns are working are not listed.
The City of Gütersloh focuses on quality in its training, with practice supervisors intensively accompanying the new recruits. The programme also included information on the employee app, external offices, job ticket, and evaluation talks.
The City of Gütersloh is glad to strengthen its team with the new recruits, and looks forward to witnessing their growth and contributions in the days ahead.
