On the lively Gerricusplatz, a series of events took place over the past few weeks, bringing together dance groups, friendly associations, and carnival enthusiasts. The KG Gerresheimer Bürgerwehr and the carnival friends of the Catholic Youth (KakaJu) organised several camps, each with a colourful programme, aimed at celebrating, donating, and helping.

The first event of the season was held on the day of the carnival, 11.1., where the Karnevalsschützengesellschaften of KakaJu, along with the Bürgerverein Pauluskirche, conducted a fundraiser at the Golden Kessel. The event raised a substantial 3,000 euros for the palliative care unit of the university hospital.

The following week, on 11th February, the KG Gerresheimer Bürgerwehr celebrated their camp on the Gerricusplatz. The stage, shining in the colours of Düsseldorf, primarily red and white, was the centre of the festivities. The presidential duo of the KG Gerresheimer Bürgerwehr, Marco Schmitz and Christian Imkamp, led the celebrations.

During the event, the collected donations were given to the head of the palliative station of the university clinic, Dr. Martin Neukirchen. The donations will finance complementary therapy forms and the accompaniment of burdened families with children.

The prince's couple made an appearance at the camp, and their arrival was cheered by the visitors. Marco Schmitz, during his speech, also called on everyone to exercise their voting rights on Sunday.

The KakaJu and the Gerresheimer Bürgerwehr emphasised that carnival is a connecting element between people. They believe that these events not only provide a platform for celebration but also serve as a means to give back to the community.

The Rhine Guard Blue-White provided color variety with their dance groups, adding to the vibrant atmosphere. The Gerricusplatz was full, and the mood was lively and joyful.

Despite the festive nature of the events, no new information about the prince's couple or the atmosphere was provided. However, the spirit of unity and generosity was evident throughout the celebrations.

In total, 1,555 euros were donated for the benefit of the palliative station during the KG Gerresheimer Bürgerwehr's camp. The collected funds will undoubtedly make a significant difference in the lives of those in need.
