In a somewhat unremarkable performance, Thomas Tuchel's England secured a 2-0 victory against Andorra in their World Cup qualifier on Saturday. Declan Rice scored the second goal for England in the 67th minute, following an own goal by defender Christian Garcia earlier in the match.

The English team's performance was described as lacklustre, with little pace, few opening passes, and a scarcity of creativity. Winger Noni Madueke acknowledged "frustrating phases" against Andorra's double-five defence line. Despite this, Tuchel was satisfied with the result, praising his team's solid performance against a deep-lying opponent.

The victory marked the fourth win in the fourth World Cup qualifier for England, placing them comfortably at the top of their group. However, the match was criticised for being uninspired and even boring at times, with sparse applause heard at Birmingham's Villa Park during the game.

The "Daily Mail" went as far as describing the game as "boring and irritating" for Tuchel, while the "Independent" expressed doubt about his ability to get the best out of the England team, despite the win.

Looking ahead, England face a much tougher test against Serbia on Tuesday in Belgrade. Serbia currently sit five points behind England but have also played one game less. The match promises to be a challenging encounter for Tuchel's team, who will be looking to build on their recent win and maintain their position at the top of the group.

An unexpected fact from the Andorra match was that Tuchel himself jubilantly celebrated his own goal, albeit too late. Despite the late score, Tuchel felt a 4:0 or 5:0 score would have been deserved, highlighting the team's dominance in the match.

As England prepare to face Serbia, questions remain about Tuchel's ability to inspire his team to more exciting and dynamic performances. Nonetheless, the team will be aiming to continue their winning streak and secure their place in the World Cup qualifiers.
