Estonian Minister of Foreign Affairs embarks on a visit to Oman and Saudi Arabia, accompanied by a group of business representatives
Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna is embarking on a visit to the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from September 7 to 11. Accompanying him is an Estonian business delegation, which includes companies like AuveTech, Bolt, Nortal, and Stargate Hydrogen.
The main purpose of Tsahkna's visit is to intensify bilateral relations with these countries. During his visit, he will meet with the foreign ministers of Oman and Saudi Arabia.
One of the notable companies in the delegation is Stargate Hydrogen, a company developing hydrogen production technology. Stargate Hydrogen has been operating in Saudi Arabia for over two years and its activities are supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Estonian Business and Innovation Agency.
Marko Virkebau, CEO of Stargate Hydrogen, will sign two cooperation agreements during the visit. One agreement concerns regional expansion, while the other is about the delivery of technology.
Stargate Hydrogen's activities in Saudi Arabia are not limited to business. The company is collaborating with the NEOM future city project and the leading university KAUST. The two main goals of Stargate Hydrogen in Saudi Arabia are to sell electrolyzers and deepen research and development cooperation.
During the visit, Stargate Hydrogen will also meet with both existing partners and new clients. The IT, green energy, food, and maritime sectors are considered to have the greatest potential for Estonian businesses in the Gulf markets.
In addition to business matters, Tsahkna will discuss global security challenges, including Russia's aggression against Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East.
The Gulf region, one of the fastest growing economic regions in the world, remains one of the focus areas of Estonia's business diplomacy. Estonian companies are showing great interest in operating in the Gulf region, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Estonian Business and Innovation Agency are working together to support the activities of these companies.
This visit is expected to open doors in the region and create opportunities for collaboration, particularly for companies like Stargate Hydrogen. Being part of the official business delegation is valuable for Stargate Hydrogen as it provides a platform to showcase its technology and establish new partnerships.
The existing clients Stargate Hydrogen will meet with during the official delegation in the Gulf region to strengthen collaboration have not been publicly specified. However, the potential for growth and collaboration in the Gulf region is evident, and this visit is a significant step in furthering Estonia's presence in the region.
