EU Electric Vehicle Registration Figures for July 2022
In July 2022, Europe saw a significant surge in electric vehicle (EV) registrations, with several countries leading the way.
In the Netherlands, a total of 6,956 new EVs were registered, accounting for 32.4% of the country's automotive market. Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) made up 9.4% of these registrations, while Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) accounted for a larger 23%.
Across the border in Germany, the EV market was even more robust. A staggering 52,527 new EVs were sold, making up 25.5% of the German automotive market. BEVs had a share of 11.9%, while PHEVs accounted for 11.5% of the registrations. Interestingly, the German EV market exceeded that of France, where a total of 20,038 EVs were sold, representing a 25.6% market share.
France's EV market saw BEVs accounting for 18.6% of the registrations, while PHEVs had a share of 6.7%.
The United Kingdom also saw a notable increase in EV sales, with a total of 18,776 EVs sold in July 2022, equating to a 16.7% market share.
The German EV market saw some interesting shifts in brand dominance. Skoda emerged as the market leader, surpassing Tesla during the month. Tesla's market share fell sharply, dropping to 2.3%, placing Tesla only 13th in the brand ranking. Skoda's success was attributed to a broad portfolio and competitive pricing.
In summary, Europe witnessed a significant increase in EV registrations in July 2022, with the Netherlands, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom leading the charge. The German market was the most robust, with Skoda becoming the market leader, and the Dutch market saw the highest EV market share, followed by France and the UK.
