EU vacation packages, offering a range of all-inclusive services, are experiencing a resurgence
In a recent survey conducted by Expedia, it has been revealed that there is a growing positive attitude towards all-inclusive vacations, particularly among the younger generation. Almost half (44%) of the respondents now prefer accommodations with full board, indicating a shift towards a more relaxed and hassle-free vacation experience.
This trend is most notably observed among Generation Z, with approximately 30% reporting a better opinion of all-inclusive offers and 61% now preferring this type of travel. The desire for predictability and comfort is more important than price for this young target group. According to Susanne Dopp, spokesperson for Expedia, for many young people, the savings aspect is not the main priority, and the key factor is the feeling of not having to worry about anything during their vacation.
Long-haul trips with all-inclusive options are seeing a significant increase in popularity. Cancun, Mexico, has experienced a 65% increase in search queries compared to last year, and Mauritius (+30%) and Zanzibar (+20%) are also gaining traction. The Mediterranean region has also seen a surge in demand for summer vacations, with Zakynthos (+55 percent), Cyprus (+35 percent), and Sardinia (+25 percent) being popular destinations.
The survey also highlighted that vacation homes are an affordable option for families during summer vacations. Meanwhile, classical destinations like Antalya, Dalaman, and Bodrum continue to be popular and top the booking statistics, especially for summer vacations.
Interestingly, the most popular vacation destinations for Generation Z this summer season emphasize sustainability, cultural and nature experiences, and authentic encounters. Turkey is adapting to eco-friendly tourism trends, Austria attracts with its alpine nature and cultural diversity especially appealing to French Gen Z travelers, and Swiss destinations like Engadin cater to family-friendly outdoor activities preferred by this generation.
