In the heart of Germany, the city of Wiesbaden is taking a significant step towards promoting mental health and suicide prevention. On September 10th, the state capital will participate in the nationwide action day for World Suicide Prevention Day.

The Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the HELIOS Dr. Horst Schmidt Clinics, located at Ludwig-Erhard-Straße 100, is one of the city's key resources. Individuals seeking help can contact them at (0611) 430.

The city's commitment extends beyond the action day. Wiesbaden offers various supportive services for individuals aged 18 and above through the Social Psychiatry Service (SpDi) and the Coordination of Community Psychiatry at the Health Department.

The Psychosocial Center Mitte, located at Scharnhorststraße 24, can be reached at (0611) 4505329 or via their website. The Psychosocial Center Ost, situated at Kaiser-Friedrich-Ring 88, can be reached at (0611) 505894444 or through their website. The Psychosocial Center Süd, located at Stettiner Straße 2a, can be contacted at (0611) 690703 or via their website.

Education about suicide can lower the barrier to seeking help. In a mental crisis or for concerns about someone, a telephone counseling service is available anonymously at 0800 1110111 or 0800 1110222, or online at www.telefonseelsorge.de.

People with invisible disabilities, such as autism, ADHD, depression, FASD, or chronic neurological disorders, are often at particular risk. Numerous self-help groups offer specific services for those affected and their relatives dealing with mental challenges. Interested individuals can contact the self-help contact point of the Wiesbaden Health Department at Phone (0611) 313777 or via the health promotion website.

In 2023, the number of suicides in Germany reached over 10,000, underscoring the urgency of suicide prevention efforts. Many individuals who die by suicide had not received a secure diagnosis beforehand, highlighting the importance of accessible mental health services.

The World Health Organization (WHO) demands that suicide prevention be understood as a societal task. Low-threshold support services, such as retreat spaces, psychosocial services, understandable information, and inclusion in daily life, can provide relief.

For press-related inquiries, please contact the Press Office of the State Capital Wiesbaden at Schlossplatz 6. The Vitos Clinic Eichberg, Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, located at Kloster-Eberbach-Straße 4 in Eltville, is another valuable resource for those seeking help.

On World Suicide Prevention Day and beyond, Wiesbaden stands committed to promoting dialogue, encouraging seeking help, and offering support to those in need.
