European Blockchain Settlement Platform Debuted by Boerse Stuttgart Group Across Continent

Boerse Stuttgart Group, a leading European financial services provider, has announced the launch of Seturion - a groundbreaking digital settlement platform designed to facilitate faster and more cost-efficient transactions of tokenised assets across national borders.

Dr. Matthias Voelkel, CEO of Boerse Stuttgart Group, hailed Seturion as the first digital pan-European settlement platform for tokenised assets. This innovative platform aims to address cross-border barriers and fragmentation in the settlement landscape, offering significant cost savings of up to 90%.

Seturion is an open and accessible solution, available to all market participants in Europe, including banks, brokers, trading venues, and tokenisation platforms. Its modular design and straightforward integration ensure seamless adoption by various players in the digital capital market.

The platform's infrastructure has been meticulously built over several years and is now being scaled across Europe. Notably, all trading venues across Europe can connect to Seturion, enabling the trading of tokenised assets without the need for their own DLT license.

Dr. Lidia Kurt, the head of the Seturion leadership team, highlighted that this pan-European solution will enable market participants across Europe to tap into new business opportunities around tokenised assets. Seturion supports tokenised assets on both public and private blockchains, as well as cash settlement using central bank money and on-chain cash.

Boerse Stuttgart Group has submitted a license application to BaFin under the DLT Pilot Regime. Subject to supervisory approval, the Seturion leadership team will be headed by Dr. Lidia Kurt (CEO), Sven Wilke (Deputy CEO and CGO), Dirk Kruwinnus (CPO), and Samuel Bisig (CTO). Lucas Bruggeman, Boerse Stuttgart Group's Chief Digital Assets Officer, is designated Chairman of the Board of Directors of Seturion, also subject to supervisory approval.

Boerse Stuttgart Group's own trading venues will act as initial clients, with additional partners expected to join. Seturion's settlement solution is already in use by BX Digital, a FINMA-regulated DLT trading facility in Switzerland. In 2024, Seturion was successfully tested during the ECB blockchain trials involving leading European banks.
