Wiesbaden Joins Nationwide Suicide Prevention Efforts
In a bid to combat the rising number of suicides, especially among young people, the city of Wiesbaden is participating in the nationwide action day for World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10th. The German Society for Suicide Prevention is the organization spearheading this initiative.
Talking about suicide can save lives, and the municipality of Wiesbaden, along with the 'zusammen e.V.' association, encourages everyone to set a visible sign for suicide prevention. The city government urges citizens to reach out to various services for mental health support, including the Psychosocial Centers, psychiatric clinics, and self-help groups.
People with invisible disabilities, such as autism, ADHD, depression, FASD, or chronic neurological conditions, are often at particular risk. The city offers low-threshold support services, such as retreat spaces, psychosocial services, understandable information, and inclusion in daily life, to provide relief.
