In the heart of Germany, the City of Arnsberg is taking significant steps to support those caring for loved ones with dementia. Judith Wohlgemuth, the Specialist for the Future of Ageing, is leading these efforts.

Caring for a family member with dementia can be challenging, with everyday life often proving difficult for relatives. The physical and emotional stress can be overwhelming, and many find themselves feeling restricted in their professional activities, friendships, and hobbies.

Recognising these struggles, the Arnsberg Network Dementia is hosting an "Open Discussion Circle Dementia" event. This event offers a protected setting for relatives to exchange ideas and share their experiences, providing a much-needed platform for discussion and support.

The next "Open Discussion Circle Dementia" event is scheduled for Wednesday, 3rd September, at 6 pm, at the Multigenerational House located at Hellefelder Straße 15 in 59821 Arnsberg. Participation in this event is free and does not require registration.

Silke ZΓΆller, the contact person for the "Open Discussion Circle Dementia" events, has been organising them since October 2024. Judith Wohlgemuth serves as the city of Arnsberg's coordinator for the future of aging and is also available for questions about the event. You can contact her at j.wohlgemuth@our website or by phone at 02932 201 2213.

Approximately 70% of care-dependent individuals with dementia live at home and are cared for by their relatives. The "Open Discussion Circle Dementia" event is just one part of the support and resources provided for these dedicated caregivers.

By attending this event, relatives can find comfort in knowing they are not alone in their struggles and can gain valuable insights from others in similar situations. The "Open Discussion Circle Dementia" event aims to create a supportive environment where everyone can share their experiences and learn from each other.
