McIlroy, who has won five Ryder Cups in his career, believes that most players in Team Europe are more accomplished than they were at Marco Simone two years ago. Rose, Fleetwood, and Fitzpatrick are not the only players on Team Europe who have been in fine form since the Rome 2023 Ryder Cup. Ludvig Aberg has won the Genesis Invitational and the RSM Classic, while Robert MacIntyre has claimed his first two PGA Tour titles. Tommy Fleetwood has also won a PGA Tour event during the same period.

McIlroy, who recently won his second Players Championship and completed his career Grand Slam at The Masters in 2023, has expressed a desire to win at Wentworth in the near future. A win at the Ryder Cup in 2023 would make 2025 the best year of his career, according to the Northern Irishman.

In contrast, Team USA will be fielding four rookies in the upcoming Ryder Cup. Everyone else in Europe's Ryder Cup team will have previous Ryder Cup experience, providing a significant advantage for the home team. Rasmus Hojgaard has replaced his brother, Nicolai, in Europe's Ryder Cup team via the automatic qualification places.
