The Landshut district is investing approximately 90 million euros in this ambitious project, with the construction of the largest Realschule in Lower Bavaria being funded by the district. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new school took place on June 3, 2025.

The new Realschule Vilsbiburg will be built using reinforced concrete skeleton construction and will feature an innovative ice storage system for sustainable energy supply. This system, explained by Thomas Stöckl, head of the district-owned construction department, is designed to ensure a green and environmentally friendly energy supply for the school.

The outdoor facilities of the Realschule Vilsbiburg are also undergoing new construction. The design of the school will be attractive, with wooden modules, and it will be built with a flexible structure to meet future school requirements.

Peter Dreier, Landrat of the Landshut district, believes that educating young people is the most important task of a society. He appreciates the excellent cooperation between the Landshut district, the city of Vilsbiburg, and the planning team, as well as the involvement of Sibylle Entwistle, the mayor of Vilsbiburg.

Marco Schönauer, the school management, also commends the cooperation, stating that it has been a pleasure to work with all parties involved. The new construction on the outdoor facilities allows the school operation to continue largely undisturbed parallel to the construction.

The new Realschule Vilsbiburg will be located on Gobener Straße, near the general renovation and expansion of the Maximilian von Montgelas Gymnasium.
