Evening of Impressionist and Romantic Music on Piano at the Cultural Forum
In the heart of Wiesbaden, a special evening of music is being held, marking a significant celebration. Tonight's event is a birthday tribute to the renowned French composer, Maurice Ravel, who was born on March 7, 1875, in Ciboure, France. This year, we honour Ravel as he turns 150.
Under the guidance of Prof. Meining, students and pupils are presenting a programme that spans the Impressionism and Romantic periods. The programme includes works from various composers, such as Maurice Ravel himself, Claude Debussy, Frédéric Chopin, and Robert Schumann.
The centrepiece of the evening is Ravel's "Miroirs", a major work of French Impressionism. This piece, along with Preludes by Debussy, promises to transport the audience to the vibrant and innovative world of early 20th-century French music.
The programme also bridges the gap to German Romanticism with pieces like the Abegg Variations op. 1 and the beloved Kinderszenen op. 15 by Robert Schumann. The piano works by Chopin add a touch of the Romantic era's rich melodies and emotional depth.
This event is a testament to the rich musical heritage that Wiesbaden has to offer.
