Evening of Impressionist and Romantic Piano Music at the Cultural Center
The Press Office of the State Capital Wiesbaden is pleased to announce an upcoming event that bridges the gap between two significant periods in music history: Impressionism and Romanticism. This special evening, taking place tonight, will feature a selection of piano pieces from both eras, with a focus on celebrating the 150th birthday of the renowned French composer, Maurice Ravel.
The program includes piano works by Ravel himself, with his masterpiece "Miroirs" serving as the evening's centerpiece. This major work of French Impressionism is sure to captivate audiences with its unique blend of tonal and atonal elements.
The program also pays tribute to German Romanticism, with works by Robert Schumann, such as the Kinderszenen op. 15 and the Abegg Variations op. 1, being part of the performance. These pieces, known for their emotional depth and technical complexity, will provide a striking contrast to the Impressionist works.
In addition to the works by Ravel and Schumann, the program includes piano pieces by Frédéric Chopin and Claude Debussy, further enriching the musical journey. Preludes by Debussy, another key figure in Impressionist music, will also be performed.
Tonight's presentation will see the students and pupils showcasing the piano pieces they have learned from both periods. This is an excellent opportunity for young musicians to demonstrate their skills and passion for music, under the guidance of Prof. Meining.
Citizens interested in learning more about this event are encouraged to visit the Press Office's website at https://www.wiesbaden.de/pressereferat or contact the responsible department or office directly. The Press Office's address is Schlossplatz 6, 65183 Wiesbaden.
We look forward to an evening of beautiful music and the celebration of Maurice Ravel's legacy in Wiesbaden.
