Evening of Latin Festivity: An Evening of Accolades
In the heart of Worcester, the Latin American Student Organization (LASO) hosted the 25th annual Noche Latina on Saturday, April 12, 2025. The event, themed "The Unfolding Family Tree: Las Fuentes del Pasado Alimentando Nuestras RaiΜces," drew over 480 guests, including Holy Cross students, professors, and friends from the Worcester community.
The evening was filled with vibrant energy as MCs Emely Garcia, Josel Perez, Annalise Rhoden, and Michel Mondesir kept the crowd engaged throughout the night. Their lively banter and engaging humour set the perfect tone for the evening's festivities.
The venue, Mechanics Hall, was tastefully decorated with shimmering twinkle lights and a dreamy pastel blue colour, creating an atmosphere that was both enchanting and inviting.
The night was a celebration of Latin culture, with performances by Latinidad Identidad that showcased a variety of dance styles, including Kompa, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Reggaeton, and Dembow. A traditional Colombian dance was performed by Nicole Sarmiento and Ethan Courcelle, adding a unique flavour to the evening.
Guero SFR hyped up the audience with their energetic performance, while Edgar RomaΜn AlmaΜnzar read a touching poem about his home, the Dominican Republic, with Christina Bui playing the guitar, adding a poignant moment to the night.
Nick DiMarco, a Psychology major in the Class of 2025 at Holy Cross, was in attendance. Known for his love for green, Moneyball, Trippie Redd, It Takes Time by Trippie Redd, and the Rangers, DiMarco added a unique flavour to the event himself. The LASO E-board members looked stunning in their pastel blue attire, adding a touch of elegance to the evening.
Last Friday, Peace of Mind hosted the Night Market in the Loyola Ballroom from 5:00-8:00 PM, providing a taste of various cultures in a different setting. On February 23rd, students had the opportunity to "travel around the world" at Peace of Mind's Night Market.
The 25th annual Noche Latina was a testament to the richness and vibrancy of Latin culture, and a celebration of the Latin community at Holy Cross and beyond. The event, organised by LASO, continues to be a highly anticipated annual event, drawing over 400 guests each year.
