Event commencement: Pforzemer Messe 2018
The Pforzheim Fair, a beloved event particularly cherished by children and young people, returned to its fairground for a ten-day duration, starting on a Friday. The opening evening was filled with excitement and a touch of drama as the mayor of Pforzheim, Peter Boch, took over the traditional task of tapping the keg.
The event began with the traditional tapping of the keg in the beer tent. Brewery chief Michael Ketterer handed the large wooden hammer to Mayor Boch, who, with a determined swing, missed the beer mug during his third strike, causing glass shards to scatter over the stage. Despite the mishap, the festivities continued unabated.
The fairground offered a plethora of attractions for visitors, including rides, stalls, and various food options. The opening stage was graced by the performance of the Pforzheim formation "6th element". The first act on the stage of the Pforzheim carnival, however, was the band "ABBA 99", a group of professional musicians dedicated to performing ABBA music. Their concerts focus on both show and music, and on this occasion, they were joined by Christian Büttner at the Ramasuri Frühschoppen (morning pint), a part of the carnival program.
The opening evening also featured a magic show by the Austrian illusionist Michael Late. His performance included making an assistant disappear in a box, performing tricks with oversized cards, and emerging from a box tied with a rope after being locked inside it.
The fair also hosted rising star in the music world, Jonathan Zelter. Unfortunately, no additional information was provided about the nature of the oversized cards or the specifics of the box where the assistant and Michael Late disappeared or emerged.
The Pforzheim Fair offers a varied program, including a family day and a grand fireworks display. For the most up-to-date information on the exact dates and offers for the Pforzheim Fair, we recommend visiting the fairground's website.
Moderator Joerg Augenstein held the barrel from behind during the keg tapping, while Festwirt Enrico Becker held the beer mug under the tap. Despite the initial mishap, the Pforzheim Fair got off to an exciting start, promising a memorable ten days of entertainment for all.
