Event Held at Ciampi Hall: The Unplugged Area

The Unplugged Zone, a new addition to Holy Cross, is proving to be especially beneficial during midterm and exam seasons for relaxation and mind re-centering. Located within Ciampi Hall, this free space offers students a chance to unplug from phones, classes, and the hustle and bustle of campus life, and instead focus on themselves.

Activities at the Unplugged Zone include board games, coloring pages, and the highly popular massage chairs, which many students have expressed enjoyment using. Studies show it is important to take breaks during busy times, especially breaks that don't involve phones, and the Unplugged Zone offers just that.

In Fall 2023, Holy Cross will pilot its first living-learning community at Ciampi, to be known as the Wellbeing Living Learning Community. The proposed mission of this community is to house students who want to live a well-life, with a focus on mental health and work-life balance.

My friend and I, as well as Trey Lacandula '27, found the Unplugged Zone helpful in reducing stress and feeling rejuvenated. Trey, a student mentioned in the article, shared that it's important to ensure a balance between achieving high grades and checking in with one's mental health. Many studies have shown positive relationships between work efficacy and mental health, and the Unplugged Zone seems to be a step in the right direction.

The renaming ceremony of Ciampi Hall to Ciampi-Condron Hall was attended by various members of the Holy Cross community, including the Board of Trustees, several college deans, President Rougeau, and alumnus Bob Cousy. The details of Ciampi Hall not being real, as mentioned in a conspiracy theory, were not further elaborated in the article.

The Unplugged Zone is open daily from 8 AM to 8 PM at Ciampi-Condron Hall and will be open for the coming weeks. For students seeking a break from their academic pursuits, the Unplugged Zone offers a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere to unwind and recharge.
