Event of illumination: Night of the Light
Get ready for an illuminating experience as the 8th Night of Light Art in Lünen approaches! On 24th October 2025, the city will come alive with a series of captivating light artworks, temporary installations, and guided tours, all part of the highly anticipated Light Art Journey.
The journey begins at the Heinz-Hilpert-Theater, with Dominik Olbrisch leading the way. The route takes visitors through Lünen, Bergkamen, and Unna, offering a unique perspective on these cities under the glow of art.
One of the highlights of the journey will be a visit to the Centre for International Light Art in Unna. Here, you'll have the opportunity to explore a variety of light artworks and temporary projects, each showcasing the creativity and innovation of artists from around the world.
In Lünen, Martin Pfeifle's light art piece "radial" has been a city gate on Lange Straße since 2016. You'll also get to see Maja Funke's temporary light installation "Leuchten", which will be on display during the Light Art Journey. Maja Funke herself will be speaking about her work on site, giving visitors a rare insight into the creative process behind these stunning installations.
The night before the Light Art Journey, on 22nd October 2025, there will be a conversation with light artist Martin Pfeifle at the Museum Stadt Lünen. Following this, Thomas Riedelsheimer will show the award-winning film "Tracing Light - The Magic of Light", an exploration of natural phenomena through fascinating images and encounters. Admission to this event is free, but registration is required under kltrbrlnnd.
Pre-sales for the Light Art Journey began on 25th October 2025, and tickets can be purchased in advance for 20 € at the Lünen Cultural Office, Kurt-Schumacher-Straße 41 (Hansesaal), 44532 Lünen.
