In an effort to promote safety and responsible use of e-scooters, the Cologne Police, along with e-scooter rental companies Bolt, Lime, and VOI, are offering a free e-scooter training course as part of the "Gamescom City Festival 2025" on August 23rd and 24th.

The training course, which will take place between 2 PM and 9 PM, aims to improve safe handling of e-scooters and is being held in response to the increasing number of traffic accidents involving these vehicles. As of July 30th, the Cologne Police have recorded around 289 such accidents (an increase from 242 in the previous year).

The main causes of these accidents remain riding under the influence of alcohol or drugs, excessive speed, and using the wrong side of the road. In 109 of these cases, riders lost control and crashed without any external influence, while in 20 cases, the behavior of other road users was the primary cause of the accident.

During the training course, visitors can test their riding skills on e-scooters provided free of charge by the rental companies. The training will be conducted under guidance to ensure a safe and effective learning experience.

The other e-scooter rental companies participating alongside Bolt, Lime, and VOI in the free training for the "Gamescom City Festival 2025" in Cologne have not been named in the available search results. The initiative is part of the broader efforts to reduce traffic accidents involving e-scooters in the city.

The training course is open to all visitors of the "Gamescom City Festival 2025". The e-scooter rental companies are offering this training to promote safety and responsible use of their vehicles, making the city's streets a safer place for everyone.
