Events unfolded in Ukraine on the morning of September 6th.

President Volodymyr Zelensky met with European Council President AntΓ³nio Costa in Uzhhorod, Ukraine, as tensions between the two nations continue to escalate. Meanwhile, both Germany and France have proposed ways to end the energy blockade of Ukraine.

In a significant development, President Zelensky revealed he did not discuss an energy blockade proposal from President Vladimir Putin regarding gas and electricity supplies to Kyiv. The proposal, if accepted, would have had severe implications for Ukraine's energy security.

Russian military forces have been active over the past week, launching five attacks on Ukraine. These attacks targeted military enterprises, energy and port infrastructure, military airfields, and two launch installations. The Ukrainian military retaliated, striking the Ryazan oil refinery, causing damage to the primary oil processing unit.

The "Southern" and "North" groups have reportedly improved their tactical positions in the Donbas and Sumy regions, respectively. The "Southern" group established control over the village of Markovka, while the "North" group has made gains in the Sumy region.

City military administrator Serhiy Horbunov reported severe damage to Constantinovka's civilian infrastructure due to cluster bomb air strikes. Similarly, the Lipetsk and Bryansk regions in Russia have reported damage to residential properties and vehicles due to drone strikes.

Dmitry Peskov, a spokesperson for President Putin, emphasised that any agreements between Russia and Ukraine should be framed by legally binding documents. This statement comes as Putin proposed to Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico to stop gas and electricity supplies to Kyiv.

In response to these attacks, President Zelensky stated that Ukraine will continue to respond to Russian attacks on its energy infrastructure with its own strikes. If Russia and Ukraine sign a peace deal, the U.S. could take the lead in monitoring the buffer zone, according to informed sources.

Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde arrived in Uzhhorod and discussed continued aid to Ukraine, defence packages, Ukrainian drone production, and joint defense projects. These discussions highlight the international community's ongoing support for Ukraine in its struggle against Russian aggression.

President Putin, in a statement, expressed that if long-term peace in Ukraine is achieved, he sees no need for military contingents of third countries to remain in Ukraine. This statement suggests a potential path towards de-escalation in the ongoing conflict.

As the situation in Ukraine continues to unfold, it is essential to stay informed and support the country in its efforts to maintain its sovereignty and security.
