Samsung has announced plans to integrate an AI-powered feature, dubbed the AI Companion, into its lineup of Neo QLED, Micro-LED, OLED, The Frame TVs, and Smart Monitors M7, M8, M9 from 2025. The AI Companion, tested at the IFA booth, demonstrates impressive capabilities, understanding questions well and providing extensive answers, much like a PC or smartphone.

Three AI models will power the AI Companion, although their specific names have yet to be disclosed. However, related technologies mentioned include the Neural Quantum 4K AI Gen2 and Gen3 processors, which offer AI upscaling and image and sound optimization through multiple neural AI networks.

The AI Companion is expected to be integrated into 2025 TV models from the Neo QLED series Q7, the Micro-LED TVs, the OLEDs, and The Frame. In addition, the feature will also be extended to Samsung's Smart Monitors M7, M8, and M9.

Samsung's voice assistant Bixby is directly connected to Google Gemini, allowing users to access Google's AI for detailed answers. Perplexity AI and Microsoft's Copilot are available as apps under the smart TV interface, although they require leaving the running stream when called up, unlike Google Gemini, which can run alongside the TV program.

The AI Companion's functionality is similar to that on a smartphone or PC, offering users a seamless experience. When you call up Perplexity AI or Microsoft's Copilot, the running stream leaves the screen, and the AI fills the entire screen. Meanwhile, the TV program or stream continues to run in a smaller window while using the AI Companion.

Samsung has also planned to allow this feature for Netflix and other streaming services in the future. For quick fact-checking, users may find Google Gemini to be a useful tool due to its integration with Bixby.

When it comes to language support, the AI Companion will offer German in addition to English. Information regarding potential advertisements within the AI Companion has yet to be provided.

To access the AI Companion, users can simply press the AI button on the remote control, which opens a window with suggestions on how to use the intelligent companion on the big screen. Samsung is currently working on allowing this feature for Netflix and other streaming services.
