Exceptional undertakings spearheaded by the municipalities

In the heart of Germany, several towns and municipalities are embracing the future, integrating technology into their daily operations. Let's take a look at some of the exciting developments happening across Baden-Württemberg.

Schorndorf Embraces AI

In the Rems-Murr district, Schorndorf is leading the way with artificial intelligence (AI) in its administration. The town hall now works with ChatGPT, following a service instruction that ensures its secure application. This move is part of Schorndorf's commitment to modernising its administrative processes.

Tengen's Cultural Transformation

Meanwhile, the castle in Tengen has been transformed into a cultural real laboratory, recognised by the jury. The Blumental Castle is now an open space for art and culture, attracting visitors and fostering local creativity.

Reutlingen's Unconventional Campaign

Unusual posters with advertising appeared in Reutlingen, initially causing confusion. However, when a banner with the inscription "Only love" turned the slogan "You can't love Reutlingen" into a positive, the city marketing and the commissioned agency used the public discussion to ask citizens for the reasons for their love for Reutlingen. Hundreds of contributions strengthened the city's identity, making the campaign an approach for citizen participation beyond pure advertising.

Mutlangen's Youth Council Innovation

In the Ostalb district, Mutlangen has had a youth council since 2018 that focuses on project-based work and doesn't require an election. This innovative approach was recently awarded a special prize at a ceremony in Stuttgart's Old Castle by Finance Minister Danyal Bayaz (Greens).

Offenburg's Historical Significance

Offenburg's "Salmen" inn was a significant location during the 1848 Revolution. Today, the inn, once housing Offenburg's synagogue until its destruction in the November pogrom of 1938, is a testament to the city's rich history. Offenburg also highlights its integrative potential through historical tours, especially for migrants.

Recognising Good Administrative Work

The Staatsanzeiger Award received a record 139 applications this year, with most applications coming from Baden-Württemberg. The increase in applications shows the importance of recognising good administrative work, demonstrating the vitality of democracy.

Mayor Matthias Beer's Digital Presence

In a more unconventional move, the mayor of the market municipality of Beratzhausen, Matthias Beer, is active on TikTok, reporting on the ups and downs of the mayor's office. He also hosts the podcast "Lerche&Beer" with colleague Sebastian Koch from Wenzenbach, promoting local opinion formation.

Schorndorf's Digitalisation Success

Schorndorf's innovative approach to digitalisation has been recognised, winning in the category "Digitalisation and Modern Administration". The town has established the event series "Brunch to Learn" to discuss AI application areas in administration.

Reutlingen's Project on Citizen Participation

A project from Reutlingen stands out in the category of citizen participation. By using a triggered public discussion to engage citizens in a meaningful way, the city is setting a strong example for other municipalities.

In conclusion, these towns and municipalities are demonstrating that innovation and tradition can coexist, with each contributing to the vibrant and dynamic landscape of Baden-Württemberg.
