Exceptionally well, indeed.
Demis Volpi, a renowned choreographer and director, has been recognised for his outstanding contributions to the world of classical music and dance. The Argentine native received the prestigious Konex Award for Culture in his field, marking a significant milestone in his career.
The Konex Awards, an Argentine honour for cultural achievements, were established by the Konex Foundation in 1980. These awards rotate annually across ten categories, including sports, journalism, literature, and natural sciences, as well as recognising personalities and institutions in the field of classical music and dance.
Volpi, who currently holds a role as director and chief choreographer at Ballett am Rhein, was selected as the exceptional representative from his field to receive the Konex Award for Culture every ten years. The award was accepted on his behalf by fellow Argentine choreographer Mario Galizzi.
Volpi, who grew up in Argentina, carries his homeland deeply in his heart. He expressed his hope that this recognition will lead to future opportunities to share his creations with his Argentine audience.
Currently, Volpi is in a creative period, working on a new production at the Opéra de Lyon. He is also responsible for the choreography of Tobias Kratzer's new production of Rossini's "Guillaume Tell" at the same venue.
The Konex Award comes as a testament to Volpi's dedication and talent, and it serves as a beacon for his continued success in the world of dance and classical music. As he prepares for a new role as director and chief choreographer of Ballett am Rhein, it is clear that Volpi's impact on the dance world will continue to grow.
