Expanded budget allocated for climate advisory services
In a bid to promote sustainable farming practices and reduce carbon emissions, the European Union, Federal Government, and the State of Baden-Württemberg have joined forces to finance a subsidized climate consultation for agricultural enterprises. This consultation, funded under the Development of Rural Areas (ELER) and Joint Task for Improving Agricultural Structure and Coastal Protection, is offered by approved consulting organizations.
The consultation, which falls under the module number 274, involves a comprehensive assessment of a business's initial situation, followed by the development of company-specific measures for climate protection. These measures encompass a variety of aspects, including assessing greenhouse gas emissions, advising on energy efficiency improvements, implementing renewable energy solutions, optimizing resource use such as water and fertilizers, managing waste and bio-waste sustainably, and supporting the transition to climate-friendly agricultural practices.
The aim of these measures is to help farms meet climate targets and often involves guidance on available subsidies or financial incentives. The consultant can also create a climate balance for the business and develop adaptation strategies for possible extreme weather events.
One key focus of the consultation is external climate protection and climate change adaptation. This includes short-, medium-, and long-term adaptation options for animal and plant production in response to climate change. Soil conservation and sustainable carbon sequestration are central to the climate protection measures.
The funding rate for the consultation will be increased from 85% to 95% of the net costs for contracts concluded from September 1, 2025. The contact details, consultant names, hourly rates, and further information on these consulting organizations are published online.
For any queries or additional information, the Ministry of Food, Rural Affairs and Consumer Protection can be contacted via the Press Office or Citizen's Representative.
In total, there are nine approved consulting organizations for subsidized climate consultation in Baden-Württemberg. If you're an agricultural enterprise looking to reduce your carbon footprint and improve sustainability, consider taking advantage of this valuable opportunity.
