Expensive Battle Against Urban Graffiti Vandalism

In the heart of Dresden, the issue of graffiti continues to be a persistent challenge. Overnight, various locations in the city see the appearance of new graffiti, making removal a continuous effort.

This year, the city has planned to address this issue by focusing on several key locations. These include the retaining wall at the Terrassenufer near the Kaethe-Kollwitz-Ufer and the toilet building on Kesselsdorfer Straße.

However, not all locations are easily manageable. For instance, the Carol Bridge, a significant landmark, poses a challenge due to the potential damage cleaning agents could cause to the bridge's material. As a result, a large piece of graffiti, the XXL "Naddel and Ronny," will likely remain on the bridge.

The XXL graffiti "Naddel and Ronny" has been a part of the city's landscape for many years, previously displayed on a high-rise. This high-rise is currently undergoing renovation, which may affect the presence of the graffiti.

Last year, Dresden invested 30,000 euros to remove graffiti from various locations, including the Albert Bridge, the Blasewitz sports center, and the Lärmschutzwall B97. This year, the South Park observation platform and the Margon Arena have already been cleaned.

Dresden is taking active measures to combat illegal graffiti. The estimated cost for this year's removal efforts is 60,000 euros, as stated by Mayor Stephan Kuhn.

The artists behind the XXL graffiti on the Carol Bridge are Naddel and Ronny, but detailed biographical information or background about them is not currently available in the sources.

The battle against graffiti in Dresden continues, with the city working tirelessly to maintain its historical charm and beauty.
