In 2024, a fitness enthusiast decided to shake up their exercise routine and ventured into the world of Pilates. Seeking something new, they turned to the fitness app Alo Moves.

That's where they discovered a 10-minute Pilates workout developed by instructor Bianca Wise, designed to deliver both cardio and strength training benefits in a compact package. The session promised an immediate energy lift and did not disappoint.

The workout consists of eight exercises split into four pairs. The first two exercise pairings keep the body in a squat or lunge position, putting constant tension on the quadriceps, hamstrings, and glutes. The active portions of the workout last for 40 seconds, followed by an active rest section of 20 seconds.

One of the unique exercises in this routine is "Commandos," which requires bracing the core and pushing oneself up from a low plank to a high plank, without twisting the hips. Another interesting exercise is "Plank hip dips," an active rest exercise that involves dropping the hips to each side in a low plank position.

For those new to Pilates, a "Pilates for beginners" session is recommended to learn the basic moves. The workout also offers an option to make the high side plank easier by dropping the knee to the floor.

The high side plank is another exercise featured in the workout, where individuals are required to hold the position for 20 seconds. The routine also tests unilateral muscular endurance by focusing on one side of the body at a time.

The workout offers many of the strength and stability-boosting benefits of Pilates while also raising the heart rate for cardio perks. It's a fast-paced, full-body routine that aims to provide an energy boost, making it an excellent choice for those looking to add variety to their exercise routine.
