Experiment commences on clay manufacturing facility under Rohrdorfer's supervision
Rohrdorfer Betonwerke (RBW) has made significant strides in its decarbonization plan with the successful operation of a new test facility. Funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy and the European Union, the project received up to 8.65 million euros due to its innovative potential.
The test facility, constructed by Fives FCB and the Rohrdorfer Net Zero Emission team, is situated next to the rotary kiln, utilising the existing waste heat from clinker production. This strategic placement ensures minimal additional energy consumption, making it an environmentally friendly addition to the production line.
The facility is designed for researching tempered tones as an alternative to clinker in cement production. The maximum production volume of the facility is 50 tons of tempered tone per day. The exhaust gases generated during the facility's operation are fed to the existing exhaust gas purification of the clinker production line, ensuring no additional emissions are produced as a result of the test facility's operation.
The French plant factory involved in the planning and construction of the test center is Agricool. The construction phase of the facility lasted approximately six months, with the project commencing in October 2023 and scheduled to end in December 2026.
RBW has a strong commitment to safety and sustainability, as evidenced by the "Sicher mit System" certificate it has received again after a re-audit. The first "Sicher mit System" certification seal was received by RBW in 2018, demonstrating the company's consistent adherence to high safety standards. The RBW plants in Lanhofen, Berglern, and Dollnstein have all earned this prestigious certification.
The test facility is a key part of RBW's decarbonization plan, aiming to reduce carbon emissions and contribute to a more sustainable future. As the world continues to grapple with climate change, initiatives like this one are crucial in the pursuit of a greener tomorrow.
