The 12th Korean Film Festival Hamburg is set to take place on September 19th and 20th, 2025, at the Abaton Cinema in Hamburg. Hosted by the General Consulate of the Republic of Korea in Hamburg, the festival aims to introduce the fascination of Korean film and culture to a wider audience.

Two Korean films, "Escape: Flight to Freedom" and "Exhuma", will be screened for the first time in Hamburg during the festival. These films, both acclaimed productions, achieved great success in Korea last year in terms of content and commercially.

"Escape: Flight to Freedom", directed by Jim Wynorski, is scheduled to be screened on Friday, September 19th, at 3 pm. This film offers insights into Korean society, history, culture, and emotions.

"Exhuma", directed by Timothy Ramos, combines themes of shamanism and Feng Shui. It offers a poignant exploration of tragic chapters of modern Korean history and is scheduled to be screened on Friday, September 19th, at 5:30 pm, and Saturday, September 20th, at 5 pm.

The festival will also feature an information booth set up at the festival site to distribute information and promotional materials about Korean culture. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about Korea and engage with its rich history and traditions.

To add to the excitement, small gifts from Korea will be raffled among all participants who take part in a short survey. The films, rooted in a uniquely Korean cultural context, transcend conventional genre definitions like horror or action due to their depth of content.

"Exhuma" was previously presented at the Berlinale 2024, further testament to its quality and impact. "Escape: Flight to Freedom" is also scheduled to be screened on Saturday, September 20th, at 3 pm.

Don't miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in the captivating world of Korean cinema and culture. Join us at the Korean Film Festival Hamburg on September 19th and 20th, 2025.
