Exploration of Tasty Experiments: The Intersection of Cuisine and Science
Discover the fascinating world of kitchen science with Science Bites, an organisation hosting edible science workshops for tamariki aged 8-12 years old at Space Place in Wellington. The event, titled "Science Bites," takes place during the school holidays from the 23rd to the 2nd of October, 2025.
The workshop, which costs $65 per tamariki, promises a fun-filled morning of hands-on experiments. Participants will get to make gummy worms, explore glow-in-the-dark jelly, and create rainbow diffraction chocolate. All projects are safe to eat, making this a delicious way to learn about science.
In addition to the workshops, the school holiday programme also includes a complimentary planetarium show and various activities. The event takes place at Space Place, located at 40 Salamanca Road, Kelburn, Wellington, from 9:00 am-1:00 pm, each Tuesday and Thursday.
If you can't make it to the live event, fear not! A recorded webinar titled "Kitchen Science" is available at www.museumswellington.org.nz/kitchen-science. This webinar demonstrates how simple kitchen ingredients and equipment can be utilised to excite and engage students in science learning.
