The "Goodbye Glaciers. Forever?" exhibition, which was launched in 2019, is now on view at the Agnes-Heller-House in Innsbruck, Austria, from September 3 to 11. This traveling exhibition, which features 22 photo comparisons of glaciers from Trentino, South Tyrol, and Tyrol, juxtaposes historical and current visual materials and scientifically contextualizes the impact of human-induced climate change on the ice masses in the Eastern Alps.

The descriptions in the exhibition are available in German, English, and Italian, making it accessible to a wide audience. The exhibition is part of the celebrations for the International Year for the Protection of Glaciers.

In a related development, the International Mountain Conference (IMC) will take place at the University of Innsbruck from September 14 to 18. On September 15, at 6:15 PM, the research focus "Alpine Space" at the IMC will host a panel discussion and a film screening. The documentary "Requiem In White" by Tyrolean filmmaker Harry Putz, released in spring 2025, will be shown as part of the event.

"Requiem In White" is related to the theme of glacier preservation, and its screening at the IMC is a testament to the importance of this issue. The University of Innsbruck, the Austrian Alpine Association, the Civil Protection Office of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, the Science Museum MUSE in Trento, and Eurac Research collaborated on this initiative.

It is important to note that the IMC event is not directly related to the "Goodbye Glaciers. Forever?" exhibition, as it takes place after the exhibition's run at the Agnes-Heller-House. However, both events highlight the urgent need for action to protect our glaciers and the environment.

For more information about the IMC event, visit the official website at https://www.imc2025.com/. The entire event will be conducted in English. Visitors to Innsbruck during these dates are encouraged to take advantage of these unique opportunities to learn about and engage with the pressing issue of glacier preservation.
