The electric Mercedes-Benz GLC, the latest addition to the luxury car manufacturer's electric lineup, was officially unveiled at the IAA MOBILITY in Munich on September 7, 2025. This premier marks Munich as the key city for the market introduction of the electric GLC.

The electric GLC boasts an impressive towing capacity of up to 5,291 pounds, making it a versatile choice for those seeking an electric SUV with robust capabilities. However, the pricing for the electric GLC was not included in the press release. It is expected to slot above the plug-in hybrid 350e 4Matic, which currently retails at $60,300 before destination fees.

The electrified GLC will feature 4.5-degree rear-axle steering and optional intelligent air suspension, ensuring a smooth and agile driving experience. The exterior profile may not appear significantly different from the gas model in passing, but the electric GLC will have four Mercedes logos incorporated within its heckblende taillight. Additionally, the car's grille will have 942 illuminated points, and can display special animations with an additional cost.

Inside, the electric GLC will feature the MBUX Hyperscreen, a 11-inch customizable display that changes the display and ambient lighting based on 11 different background motifs. The MBUX Virtual Assistant, shaped like a Mercedes logo, lives on the screen as an always-there "living" avatar. This AI-powered assistant uses technology from both Microsoft and Google to accomplish tasks efficiently.

The top-trim electric GLC400 4Matic with EQ Technology will make 483 horsepower and be available at launch. The infotainment system is capable of running multiple video streaming apps, including Disney+. The car's display can be paired with the optional Burmester 3D Surround Sound System or the optional Burmester 4D Surround Sound System, which adds tactile bass vibrations in the seats.

The electric GLC is equipped with 10 external cameras, five radar sensors, and twelve ultrasonic sensors for its advanced driver assistance systems. This tech suite is designed to ensure safety and convenience for the driver.

Despite transitioning to an electric model, the Mercedes-Benz GLC will continue to offer gas and plug-in hybrid models. The success of the electric GLC will be determined by whether or not the brand continues to sell it a year from now. The electric GLC is marketed with additional tech features to appeal to regular customers, as most buyers need more reasons than just the drivetrain to pick an EV.

With its impressive capabilities, advanced tech features, and sleek design, the electric Mercedes-Benz GLC is poised to make a significant impact in the electric SUV market.
