The 2025 Formula One (F1) season, marking the series' 75th anniversary and the final chapter of the current regulatory framework, commenced with an exhilarating Australian Grand Prix. Lando Norris, driving for McLaren, clinched the coveted first-place spot, securing his first victory of the season.

In a closely contested race, Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing finished a close second, while George Russell, driving for Mercedes-Benz AMG, rounded out the podium in third place. Andrea Kimi Antonelli, the new Mercedes-Benz AMG driver, put in a strong performance, finishing fourth.

Unfortunately, Carlos Sainz had a dismal start at his new team, Williams, crashing out on the first lap. Fellow rookie drivers Liam Lawson, Oliver Bearman, Gabriel Bortoleto, Isack Hadjar, and Jack Doohan also had early exits due to the wet conditions.

The race saw the return of Liam Lawson, who secured a full-time seat at Red Bull Racing this season. Lewis Hamilton, now driving for Ferrari, had a mediocre debut, finishing in the middle of the pack.
