Fast food chain Tim Hortons collaborates with FLO to deploy swift electric vehicle chargers nationwide in Canada

In a significant move towards promoting electric mobility in Canada, Tim Hortons, the renowned coffee chain, has partnered with FLO, a leading electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions provider. This partnership, according to Louis Tremblay, President and CEO of FLO, marks a milestone in Canada's transition to electric mobility.

Under the agreement, Tim Hortons will install FLO Ultra chargers at 100 of its restaurants nationwide by the end of 2028. The fastest electric charging stations from FLO are being installed at 100 locations in Canada, with the project expected to be completed by the end of 2025. Each participating Tim Hortons will average four charging ports.

Hope Bagozzi, Chief Marketing Officer at Tim Hortons, emphasized the company's commitment to making EV charging convenient for Canadians. By installing FLO chargers, Tim Hortons aims to make every visit to their restaurants convenient and welcoming for EV drivers.

The Canada Infrastructure Bank has also shown its support for this initiative, committing $235 million to fund the installation of over 1,900 public fast-charging ports across Canada. Ehren Cory, CEO of the Canada Infrastructure Bank, stated that the initiative aims to address range anxiety and place chargers in practical, high-traffic locations.

The partnership between Tim Hortons and FLO is part of a larger initiative to make electric mobility more accessible in Canada. FLO's mobile app will allow users to easily locate and activate charging sessions at the installed ports. The first site equipped with FLO chargers is operational at 3810 Chuka Boulevard in Regina, Saskatchewan.

As the number of electric vehicles on Canadian roads continues to grow, the need for more public fast-charging ports has become increasingly evident. The partnership between Tim Hortons and FLO is expected to help address this need, contributing to the overall growth of the FLO charging network.

By the end of 2025, as many as 13 more restaurants are expected to have charging stations online. The rollout schedule is designed to ensure consistent expansion and nationwide coverage. The initiative aims to make Tim Hortons the largest restaurant provider of EV fast charging in Canada.
