Polish Air Force Pilot Dies in F-16 Crash During Airshow Rehearsal

In a tragic incident, a Polish Air Force pilot lost his life during a rehearsal for the Radom Airshow in central Poland. The crash occurred on Thursday afternoon at around 5.30pm GMT, with the F-16 fighter jet crashing onto the runway.

The aircraft involved in the accident hailed from the 31st Tactical Air Base near the city of Poznan. The pilot who died was Major Maciej "SLAB" Krakowian, a highly experienced Polish Air Force pilot with over 1,200 flight hours on the F-16.

The Defence Minister, Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, arrived at the crash scene and paid tribute to the pilot's memory. No new statements about the crash were made by the Minister in the paragraph.

Rescue operations were initiated immediately following the crash, but unfortunately, the pilot did not survive. It is worth noting that no bystanders were reported injured in the incident.

The Defence Ministry reported the crash on Friday, and footage of the incident was obtained by Polish media. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation, with no new information provided at this time.

As a result of the crash, the Radom Airshow, scheduled for the weekend, has been cancelled. The Polish Air Force and the nation mourn the loss of Major Krakowian, an officer who served his country with dedication and great courage.
