In a recent meeting, Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi state welcomed the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, and commended the President Bola Tinubu administration for several initiatives.

The highlight of the commendations was the establishment of the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which has attracted over 400,000 student beneficiaries. Governor Nwifuru praised the President for this significant step towards improving access to education.

Governor Nwifuru also described the current Minister of Works, Chief David Umahi, as vibrant and committed. He noted that Umahi's leadership has resulted in noticeable improvements in Ebonyi's infrastructure.

The governor expressed his concern about the proliferation of unfounded stories on social media and called for serious restrictions to be imposed to curb their spread. He believes this measure is necessary to maintain the integrity of national development discussions.

In addition, Governor Nwifuru commended the Ebonyi postgraduate scholarship scheme aimed at training indigenes at Masters and Doctorate levels in local and foreign universities. He expressed confidence in President Tinubu's re-election in 2027 due to his achievements in physical infrastructure and human capital development.

Governor Nwifuru also urged the Federal Government to intensify efforts to engage youths in practical agriculture. He believes that this would properly channel their energy and potential in meaningful ventures, as he reminisced about his own joy of owning a farm during his youth.

The governor pledged the full support of Ebonyi people in achieving President Tinubu's re-election goal. He also expressed his belief that the activities of several ministries are under-reported, giving the impression that only the Ministries of Works and the Federal Capital Territory are active.

Governor Nwifuru also took the opportunity to celebrate a historical milestone - the appointment of an Igbo man as Minister of Works for the first time since Nigeria's independence in 1960. This appointment, he believes, is a testament to the President's commitment to diversity and inclusivity in governance.
