Federal Law Enforcement at Hamburg Airport: Mis-hired and Imprisoned - Unlicensed Driving Leads to Jail Time

A 59-year-old Romanian national was arrested at Hamburg Airport on Monday, according to the Federal Police Inspectorate Airport Hamburg. The man, who had been wanted by the Bayreuth public prosecutor since April 2022, is suspected of belonging to the Reichsbürger movement.

The arrest occurred around 11:00 AM. The individual was attempting to fly from Paris to Bucharest when he mistakenly approached the border police exit control for a different flight. Federal police officers conducted a wanted person search on the individual and took him into custody.

The arrest warrant stated that the individual owed 45 daily fines of 40 euros each, totaling 1,883 euros. These fines were accumulated due to unpaid penalties. The warrant also mentioned procedural costs of 83 euros. The individual was unable to pay the required amount and was taken into custody at the Hamburg remand prison.

The Public Prosecutor's Office in Bayreuth had been seeking the individual since April 2022. The man is believed to have been involved in a training event at a shooting range near Bayreuth in April 2022, which is suspected to be preparation for an attack on the Bundestag in Berlin.
