78 Volunteers Kick Off Federal Service in Blade City, Solingen
On Monday, September 2, 78 individuals embarked on a federal voluntary service in the city of Solingen, Germany, commonly known as "Blade City". The young volunteers, aged between 16 and 61 years old, are part of the 2023/24 cohort and are providing their service in various sectors of the city, including education and social services.
The volunteers were welcomed at a kick-off event attended by Mayor Tim Kurzbach and Iris Essenberg, regional coordinator of the Federal Office for Family and Civil Society Affairs. During the event, the volunteers were informed about their rights and duties as part of the federal voluntary program.
The volunteers also participated in workshops and other exercises to get to know each other. For some of them, the federal voluntary service is seen as a stepping stone into their professional lives.
The volunteers are deployed in various locations within the city, including kindergartens, schools, youth facilities, and senior centers. Twelve of the 121 federal volunteers have already started an apprenticeship or studies with the city of Solingen.
Despite the lack of relevant search results specifying the organization where the volunteers perform their service, the dedication of the volunteers is evident. They are designated as "Bufdis", a term used to denote their commitment to their service.
As they embark on this new journey, the volunteers are ready to make a positive impact in the community of Blade City, Solingen. Their service will continue to contribute to the city's social fabric and support its residents in various ways.
