Festival Ruhr 2025: Leony captivated, Popolski electrified - 17 days of cultural explosions
The 17-day Zeltfestival Ruhr, held in Bochum, Germany, near the Kemnader See, offered an unforgettable blend of culture, cuisine, and encounters, attracting over 3 million square feet of festival grounds and a staggering 2 million visitors since its inception in 2008.
This year's event, which took place from an unspecified date, featured 53 artists and 61 guest performances, including the captivating performances of Pawel Popolski and Leony.
Pawel Popolski, a renowned Polish musician, wowed the audience with his "Polish world history of pop". His show was a delightful mix of musical surprises, anecdotes, and virtuosic live moments, creating an atmosphere where the audience was an active participant, experiencing a shared celebration of wit, musicality, and humour.
Leony, a prominent German pop artist, also graced the stage with her powerful voice, energetic stage presence, and modern pop production. Her performances on the 4th and 6th of September were emotional highlights of the festival, thanks to her mix of professionalism and authenticity. Leony took time for personal words between songs, adding to the emotional impact of her performance, and even encouraging the audience to clap and sing along.
The audience responded enthusiastically, with Leony's setlist of well-known hits and current songs causing the tent audience to sing and dance. Many shows at the Zeltfestival Ruhr were already sold out before the festival, a testament to the popularity of the event.
In addition to the main shows, 38 shows took place in the event tents, featuring world stars and national favourite acts. The Piazza stage, offering free entry to festival visitors, hosted 23 concerts.
The next edition of the Zeltfestival Ruhr is scheduled for August 22nd to September 7th, 2025. The lineup includes Bosse, Kontra K, and Samu Haber, promising another unforgettable experience for music lovers.
