Final say on the city budget 2025 for Wuppertal residents' review
In just over a month, Wuppertal residents will have the opportunity to shape their city's future as the Citizen Budget Event 2025 approaches. Scheduled for August 27, 2025, at 6 pm at Codeks (Moritzstraße 14), this event aims to connect people, make community-oriented projects visible, and signify lived democracy and joint future planning.
Out of the 156 proposals submitted, around 30 projects have been selected for the final round after thorough examination. These projects, which span a wide range of areas, will be presented at the event, offering attendees the chance to learn about each proposal in detail.
The event will not only feature project presentations but also voting opportunities and conversations over food and drinks. On-site, sign language interpreters and childcare will be offered to ensure inclusivity for all. Assistance needs can be indicated during registration.
Participation in the event is free of charge, and spontaneous guests are also welcome. Registration for the voting party can be done via [www.talbeteiligung.de/kalender].
Citizens can also participate online at [www.talbeteiligung.de/buergerinnenbudget2025] or at one of the twelve district stations until September 18. Between August 28 and September 18, citizens can vote both online and on-site at these stations in all ten city districts.
Mayor Uwe Schneidewind will accompany the event, and Mara Brinkmann, Referentin für Bürgerbeteiligung (Officer for Citizen Participation) of the city of Wuppertal, will be the person leading the citizen participation 2025 in Wuppertal.
The total budget of 210,000 euros is funded by the city of Wuppertal (100,000 euros), the Community Foundation for Wuppertal, BARMER, and the KNIPEX company (110,000 euros). The administration evaluates until just before the kick-off whether ideas are feasible or can be combined with the submitters to form larger projects.
The voting phase will determine which projects will become a reality in the next two years. This is a unique opportunity for Wuppertal residents to decide which ideas will be implemented, making their voices heard and contributing to their city's development.
The Citizen Budget Event 2025 in Wuppertal promises to be an exciting and engaging event, bringing together the community to shape the future of their city. So, mark your calendars and get ready to be part of this democratic process. For more information, visit [www.talbeteiligung.de/buergerinnenbudget2025].
