Financial support of EUR 10 million has been approved by the Commission for the designated project.
The Wild Park and City Forest in our city are not just beautiful green spaces, but also rich sources of natural resources. Starting now, and continuing beyond October 16th, visitors can participate in the collection of acorns and chestnuts.
The official handover days for the distribution of these forest fruits are October 3rd and October 31st. On these days, you can hand in your collected acorns and chestnuts at the park's operations yard, located on RennbahnstraΓe.
Outside the official collection dates, chestnuts and acorns can be filled into the provided collection containers at all park entrances. For your convenience, these containers are available throughout the collection period.
If you're wondering where to find these forest treasures, look no further than your local gardens, parks, and the city forest. Remember, it's important to stick to the forest paths to avoid disturbing wild animals such as wild boars, mouflons, and various species of deer, who also enjoy a good acorn or chestnut.
The Forestry Administration encourages this activity and offers valuable information about the collection process. You can contact them at 0211-8995696 or 0211-625972 for more details.
Children can also get involved! They receive a small allowance of 20 cents per kilogram of acorns and 10 cents per kilogram of chestnuts for handing them in at the official dates.
When collecting and storing your finds, remember to use jute bags or open baskets to avoid mold. Plastic bags are not suitable for this purpose.
So, grab a bag or basket and head out to the Wild Park and City Forest for a fun and educational experience. Let's work together to collect and enjoy these natural resources while learning more about our local wildlife and ecosystem.
