In the United Arab Emirates, the Abu Dhabi Police have issued a reminder for motorists to maintain a minimum distance of five metres from school buses. This rule is part of the traffic violation penalties in Abu Dhabi, with drivers who fail to comply facing a fine of Dh1,000 and 10 black points.

The 'STOP' arm of school buses is extended to signal that the bus is about to stop or has stopped. When this arm is extended, motorists are expected to stop completely, and pedestrians are required to maintain a legally prescribed minimum distance of 5 metres from the stopped school bus. This is to ensure the safety of students while boarding or leaving the bus.

The reminder is part of the awareness series 'Darab Al Salama 2', which focuses on ensuring safety, particularly in relation to school buses. The series aims to educate the public about the importance of adhering to these rules to ensure the safety of students.

In addition to this, the police in Abu Dhabi are warning against the spread of rumours and fake news. They are also issuing a warning about five common cybercrimes targeting kids.

The UAE authorities have urged Muslims to perform the Eclipse Prayer on September 7. However, this article is primarily focused on road safety and the rules regarding school buses.

It is essential for motorists to obey these signals to ensure the safety of students. The fines and penalty points apply to drivers who fail to check before entering roads, emphasising the importance of vigilance and adherence to these rules.

In pedestrian zones where the 'STOP' arm of school vehicles is extended, the police are called upon to control the area to enforce these rules. The aim of the reminder is to ensure the safety of students while boarding or leaving school buses.

The Abu Dhabi Police have reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety of all road users, particularly children, by reminding motorists of these important rules.
