In the aftermath of a severe storm, the Hattingen Fire Department was kept busy dealing with various incidents across the city. The first deployments began at 15:30 on Monday, with the city center and Welper being the initial areas affected.

The storm caused significant damage, with a large tree uprooted on the commuter parking lot in Bruchfeld and several loose facade parts or roof tiles posing a risk to traffic areas at various deployment sites. Due to the uprooted trees, access to the youth education center in Welper was temporarily blocked.

Utility companies also intervened to ensure the safety of the deployed forces, as power lines were a concern at several sites. The readiness of the equipment houses was suspended around 19:00.

The deployment sites were spread throughout the entire city area, including Elfringhausen, Blankenstein, Holthausen, and the city center. Some deployment calls did not require the involvement of the fire department.

At several deployment sites, including the church at the castle in Blankenstein, the weather vane had broken off, causing the area to be cordoned off.

The Hattingen Fire Department activated all volunteer units due to the significant increase in deployments around 16:00. Unfortunately, the turntable ladder could not be used everywhere due to the storm.

As of now, all deployment sites have been cleared, but some follow-up work by the city's operations or the utility company is still required at a few deployment sites tomorrow.
