Fire department successfully subdues runaway king cobra
In an unexpected turn of events, a one-meter-long King Python was discovered in the courtyard of a multi-family home on Simrock Street, Düsseldorf, on Sunday afternoon. The residents, taken aback by the sight of the massive reptile, quickly called the local fire department on the emergency number 112.
The snake, appearing well-fed and healthy despite showing signs of external injuries, was swiftly secured by the residents using a bucket until the reptile expert arrived. The expert, who identified the snake as a King Python, provided a suitable reptile box for the snake's temporary care.
Shortly after the call to the fire department, a reptile expert arrived at the scene and confirmed the identification. Unfortunately, the expert's name was not disclosed in the available information. The residents, astonished by the sight, were relieved to see the snake being handled by a professional.
The King Python was then transported to the Natural and Animal Park in Brüggen, Kreis Viersen, where it will receive appropriate care. As the identified snake is a protected species, the local nature conservation authority of the Garden and Cemetery Office in Düsseldorf has been informed to ensure compliance with species protection regulations.
The origin of the King Python remains unknown, but the incident serves as a reminder of the diverse wildlife that can occasionally be found in urban settings. The incident occurred around 5:40 PM on Sunday, adding a touch of excitement to an otherwise ordinary day in Düsseldorf.
