Fire in a residential property on Wölfnitzer Ring, Dresden: One individual and two canine companions successfully rescued from the blaze.

In the heart of Dresden, a residential fire broke out at Woelfnitzer Ring, Gorbitz, on the evening of August 1, 2025. The Dresden Fire Department swiftly responded to the incident, which was reported through a smoke alarm activation.

Upon arrival, smoke was visible from an open window on the second floor of the apartment building. A team in breathing apparatus forced their way into the burning apartment and extinguished the fire with a hose reel.

Fortunately, no one was injured during the operation. A person was rescued using a portable ladder from the affected apartment and remained unharmed. Two dogs were also rescued from the burning apartment and handed over to their owner unharmed.

Extensive ventilation measures were taken to remove toxic smoke from the building. The Integrated Regional Control Center Dresden (IRLS) confirmed the fire incident in a multi-family building.

The deployment code was increased as a result of the confirmed fire, and around 50 personnel from the fire and rescue stations Löbtau, Übigau, and Altstadt, the rescue station Löbtau, the B-Duty, the U-Duty, and the local fire department Gorbitz were involved in the operation. Additional forces were called in to handle the incident.

The head of the Dresden Fire Department responsible for the fire at Wölnitzer Ring in Gorbitz on August 1, 2025, was Michael Katzsch, who is the Head of the Fire and Disaster Protection Office in Dresden.

The fire was contained within a time frame of approximately two hours and thirty-seven minutes, between 20:46 and 23:03.
