Firebreak efforts underway in the Mühlviertel region with more than a hundred firefighters in action

In the heart of Altenfelden on Saturday, a significant firefighting operation took place, involving over 100 firefighters from the local Altenfelden Fire Department. The fire, which broke out between an old roof and a newer one built on top, posed a challenging task due to its hard-to-reach location, as reported by District Fire Chief Thomas Stockinger.

The firefighting operation began early in the day, with over 100 firefighters deployed to the scene. To tackle the fire, the firefighters used a variety of tools, including a turntable ladder and the innovative drilling extinguishing system "Drill-X".

The "Drill-X" system was particularly useful in this operation, as it allowed firefighters to bore through the roof to reach the fire source, which was otherwise inaccessible. This system was targeted at hard-to-reach areas, helping to extinguish the fire from within.

Despite the challenges, the fire was eventually extinguished from the outside. To ensure safety, power was turned off in parts of the settlement during the operation. Inside the building, several breathing protection teams were deployed to combat the flames.

The mop-up operations lasted until late in the evening, ensuring that every ember was extinguished and the area was safe. This operation serves as a testament to the dedication and skill of our local firefighters, who work tirelessly to protect our communities.
