Fired Aide of Shettima Speaks Out: Response After Dismissal by Tinubu
Nigeria: Fegho Umunubo Dismissed from Tinubu Administration
In a surprising turn of events, Fegho Umunubo has been relieved of his duties as Special Assistant on Digital and Creative Economy in the Vice President's Office by President Bola Tinubu. The State House announced this decision with immediate effect, stating that Umunubo no longer represents the government in any capacity.
The dismissal came shortly after Umunubo publicly reaffirmed his support for the Tinubu administration. In a birthday message to Vice President Kashim Shettima six days ago on LinkedIn, Umunubo urged Nigerians to rally behind the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu government.
In a statement issued by Abiodun Oladunjoye, Director of Information and Public Relations at the State House, stakeholders and members of the public were warned against engaging with Umunubo in the name of the federal government. Anyone who interfaces with Umunubo in the name of President Tinubu's administration does so at their own risk, according to the statement.
Umunubo himself took to Instagram to share the State House press release regarding his dismissal and wrote that he is now free to fly. His birthday message to Vice President Shettima included a statement asking God to continue to strengthen him with wisdom, health, and unwavering resolve as he supports Mr. President.
As of now, the successor of Fegho John Umunubo in the President's Office is not publicly available. This development is expected to cause ripples in the Tinubu administration, with speculation running high about the reasons behind Umunubo's sudden dismissal.
