In Weinheim, the unconventional firefighting methods of managing burning compost heaps and handling broken glass have become necessary for firefighters.

Firefighting efforts are facilitated in Weinheim, as fires are ignited by burning compost heaps and fragments of broken glass.

On Sunday morning at 11:30 AM, the Weinheim Fire Department was alerted to assist the police with an incident at the Friedrich Grund- und Realschule on Bergstraße. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a fire had broken out in a small garden plot, suspected to have started from rubbish or bulky waste.

Thankfully, the fire had already been largely extinguished by neighbours before the fire department's arrival. The fire department did not need to use any special equipment or techniques to extinguish the rest of the fire. The Fire Department used two fire engines from the city department, a rescue vehicle, and a transport vehicle for the operation.

After the fire was extinguished, the fire department carried out follow-up operations to prevent re-ignition. The scene was then handed over to the police for further investigation. No injuries were reported during the incident, and no further details about the cause of the fire or any potential damages were provided in the report.

On Saturday, March 5th, at approximately 9:00 AM, the Weinheim Fire Department was also alerted to a reported fire near the Barbarabridge, Mierendorffstraße. Upon arrival, it was found that a break-in had resulted in a damaged window that needed professional securing. The response team professionally closed the damaged window, but no further information about any injuries or damages was provided in the report.

For further inquiries regarding the events on May 3rd and 4th, please contact Fire Chief Ralf Mittelbach at 06201/82183 or [email protected]. It was noted that the vehicles used in both incidents were loaded with special materials such as wooden panels, stands, and other cladding materials. The Fire Department did not provide any details about the cause of the break-in at the school.
