VfB Stuttgart narrowly defeated Borussia Mönchengladbach 1-0 in a tense Bundesliga match, with Chema Andrés scoring the winning goal in the 79th minute.

The hosts were inspired by a choreography from their fans in the opening phase, setting the tone for an exciting encounter. However, the first half was marked by missed opportunities, with Tiago Tomås coming closest for Stuttgart but failing to convert. Borussia Mönchengladbach also had a chance to take the lead, but Kevin Stöger's effort went wide in the 51st minute.

Stuttgart's goalkeeper, Alexander NĂŒbel, had a moment of uncertainty in the 22nd minute, allowing Lukas Ullrich a good shooting opportunity, but NĂŒbel managed to parry the shot. NĂŒbel also denied Philipp Sander with a save from a free kick in the 25th minute.

The game was not without its personnel changes. Deniz Undav, one of Stuttgart's key players from last season, was forced to leave the field due to a knee injury in the first half, with Chris Fuhrich coming on as a substitute. In terms of transfers, Nick Woltemade, another key player, left for Newcastle United, a move that coach Sebastian Hoeneß described as a "heavy loss". To replace Woltemade, VfB Stuttgart signed Bilal El Khannouss on loan from Leicester City. El Khannouss, a versatile attacking midfielder, strengthens their offensive options.

Stuttgart will receive up to 90 million euros for Woltemade, a record transfer fee for the club. Despite the departure of Woltemade and Enzo Millot, who transferred to Al-Ahli, former VfB midfielder Sami Khedira thinks the club handled Woltemade's transfer correctly.

VfB Stuttgart lacked creativity and flair in their game overall, but they managed to find a breakthrough late in the game. Chema Andrés headed home the winning goal, securing all three points for the home team.

Alexander Wehrle, VfB Stuttgart's board chairman, stated that reinforcements are needed by the end of the transfer window on Monday evening. Wehrle also mentioned that they are confident in finding good solutions by the end of the transfer period.

Despite the victory, Stuttgart's struggle for creativity and flair will remain a concern as they look to build on this win in their upcoming matches. Borussia Mönchengladbach, on the other hand, will be disappointed to have failed to score their first goal of the season and will be eager to bounce back in their next game.
