Football club Juventus reportedly showing renewed interest in signing Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku.
Chelsea's Romelu Lukaku in Demand as Juventus Lead Transfer Pursuit
In a significant turn of events, it appears that Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge, with Italian giants Juventus leading the chase for the Belgian forward.
Lukaku, who turns 22 next month, has found himself on the periphery of Jose Mourinho's first team plans at Chelsea this season. Despite his impressive goalscoring record in the Premier League, with 17 and 15 goals respectively in his last two campaigns, the striker has struggled to secure a regular starting spot.
Juventus, who are currently leading the Serie A table, have shown renewed interest in Lukaku, with general manager Beppe Marotta and sporting director Fabio Paratici already in talks with Chelsea regarding a potential transfer. The new boss of Juventus, Max Allegri, has given his approval to pursue the Chelsea striker.
Chelsea, who are considered early favourites to win the Premier League, are unlikely to sell Lukaku to a Premier League rival. The London club plans to sell him this summer for a fee of €30 million, according to reports. It is worth noting that if a transfer does materialise, Chelsea would be the seller, as they hold Lukaku's contract before the move to Juventus.
Despite his success in the Premier League, Lukaku's international career has been less fruitful. He failed to impress at the 2014 World Cup, where Belgium exited at the quarter-final stage.
Lukaku, who began his professional career at Anderlecht, joined Chelsea in 2011 but has spent spells on loan at West Bromwich Albion, Everton, and most recently, at the Italian club, Inter Milan. If the transfer to Juventus goes through, it would mark a return to Italy for the striker.
As the transfer window heats up, the future of Romelu Lukaku at Chelsea remains uncertain. With Juventus showing keen interest and Lukaku's desire for regular first-team football, a move to Turin could be on the cards. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
