Football team Panathinaikos, under the guidance of Rui Vitória, conceded a draw in the Greek League competition.
In the second round of the Greek League, Panathinaikos played host to Levadiakos at their home ground. Despite qualifying for the group stage of the Europa League this week, the Greens find themselves in a challenging position in their domestic league.
The match started with a bang, as Filip Djuricic, a former Benfica player, scored the first goal for Levadiakos just one minute into the game. Panathinaikos, who were in fourth place with four points, struggled to find an equaliser.
Renato Sanches, a substitute brought in to 'freshen up' the midfield, entered the game at the 67th minute. However, it wasn't until the 86th minute that Panathinaikos managed to equalise, thanks to Benjamin Verbic. No further goals were scored after this, and the game ended in a draw.
It's worth noting that Panathinaikos has fewer points than any of the top four teams in the league, with Olympiacos, AEK, and PAOK all boasting a full six points. The Greens' performance in the Europa League does not seem to be translating to their domestic league, as they currently find themselves in ninth place with just one point.
This was Panathinaikos' first home game of the season, and their position in the league is lower than three leading teams and Levadiakos. Interestingly, Panathinaikos postponed their first round match against OFI Crete.
There's also ongoing news about a potential player transfer, with an agreement between Panathinaikos and Sporting for Ioannidis to move to Lisbon.
Coach Rui Vitória, who led the team in their first home game of the season, will be hoping for a better performance from his team in the upcoming matches. As the season progresses, it will be interesting to see how Panathinaikos fares in the Greek League.
